Editing Technique Plan
Simultaneity: This is where there are two scenes, which are in two different locations, and the camera will cut from one action to another,
Leit Motif: A leitmotif is a "short, constantly recurring musical phrase" associated with a particular person, place, action or idea.
Contrast Editing: This is where the viewer or audience is forced to compare two opposing scenes.
Parallelism: Parallelism is when there are two or more scenes, which are very similar to each other but mean something because they are different.
Symbolism: Symbolism is when you are moving from a scene to something else, which can create symbolic connection for the audience
Homelessness
Sean- Homeless
Paige and Kennedy - Home
Victor- Used to be Homeless
Scene 2 (Parallelism)
Scene flips to a flashback to where Victor a now rich kid used to be homeless
Scene walks through how victor put in the work to get a job and build himself back from being homeless
Scene goes to Sean just laying and begging for money
(The difference in the meaning of Sean's homelessness and Victors is that although they are similar Victor put the effort into getting out of his situation while Sean just sits there and begs other people to help him.)
Scene 3 (Symbolism + Leitmotif)
Victor walks up to Sean to tell him about how he escaped homelessness
Paige says get a job
Sean says I cant
Sean and victor keep talking
Paige says get a job
Sean says I cant
Repeat x3
THIS SENDS A MESSAGE OF HOW HARD WORK CAN GET SOMEONE FAR AND IF THEY PUT THE EFFORT IN AND HOW its seans fault that hes homeless because he chooses not to change his situation
Victor Rus, Sean Adamczyk, Paige Baumal, Kennedy Chaffe
